Following the Green Chemistry Conference, organised in Vienna in 2018 during the Austrian EU Council Presidency, and the first Expert Dialogue on Green Chemistry in April 2019, it was unanimously agreed that a regular discussion platform for networking and alignment should be created for green chemistry in Austria.

The European Commission’s Green Deal also focuses on sustainability in the chemical industry, and the integration of green chemistry within the Austrian Government Programme 2020 set in motion the development of a national programme for green chemistry.

In order to effectively bring together expert opinions, to promote knowledge exchange and discussion and to implement projects, the Green Chemistry Project is implemented in two parallel formats: the Platform Green Chemistry and the Expert Dialogue on Green Chemistry.
